Kitchener tech company hiring over 100 employees during COVID-19

The following is an excerpt from a Kitchener Today Article written by Tim Herd on March 29, 2020.

InkSmith, a tech company out of Kitchener, produces laser cutters and 3D printers.

They decided to join the fight against COVID-19 by producing plastic face-shields for healthcare workers.

To keep up with demand, they have decided to hire over 100 employees.

In a social media post, Jeremy Hedges, CEO of InkSmith, said they are hiring machine operators, assembly-line personnel, and support and administration staff.

“We are going to pay a living wage, have a benefits program for employees and have meal services through all day, evening and night shifts,” said Hedges.

“We have a Doctor on staff … we have personal protective equipment for our employees … we have all the protocols we need in place to make sure this is a safe work environment during a pandemic … everyone’s temperature is scanned … we’re doing everything we can to make sure our operation is COVID safe,” said Hedges.

He added once they can produce enough face-shields for Canadian clinicians they will start helping others around the world.

“This is a long term commitment to bring Canadian manufacturing of protective equipment right back here to Kitchener, Ontario,” said Hedges.
